Wake up to the soothing sounds of the rustling leaves of poplar and birch and the calls of osprey along the river. Enjoy your morning coffee on our second-floor balcony taking in the "million-dollar views" of the river and perhaps a great blue heron taking flight or soaring bald eagles. These are regular sightings, but one of our 2025 summer guests spotted an even larger golden eagle, which is relatively rare in eastern Canada.

Use our direct river access to canoe on the upper section of what is known as a great river for paddling, kayaking and other water activities. Canoe, PFDs and paddles are provided. Birdlife is thriving any time of day, but paddle upriver in the late afternoon and go beyond Gunn’s Bridge to encounter nesting Great Blue Heron.

Also upriver is a riverside path along the original Trout River Road of the 1920s which leads to a community park with a picnic area and groomed waterside nature trails. Venture further to hike tree-canopied heritage roads, among the oldest on PEI.
